Day 1

The Soft Landing

Portland → Welcome Dinner

Families arrive in Portland and check into the hotel. No alarms. No rushing. Just unpack, freshen up, and let travel mode fade.

That evening, we gather for a relaxed welcome dinner—good food, familiar flavors, and easy conversation. Kids start clocking who they’ll be running around with. Parents start to realize they don’t need to organize anything.

Early night encouraged, not enforced. Tomorrow we head outside.

Day 2

River Days & Camp Nights

Rafting → Camp Arrival → Movie Night

After breakfast, we head out for a guided rafting experience designed specifically for families—playful stretches of water, moments of teamwork, just enough splash to feel like an adventure without tipping into stress.

Lunch is riverside, then we continue on toward camp.

When you arrive, camp is already built and waiting. Tents are up but we'll set a few aside for those not wanting to build their own. Beds are made. Lanterns are glowing. Kids explore. Parents exhale. There’s time to settle in, wander, snack, and ease into camp life.

Dinner is served as the sun drops, followed by our first outdoor movie night—blankets, popcorn, kids piled together, parents nearby or not (lol). The kind of night that ends naturally once everyone’s happily worn out.

Day 3

Lake Day, Camp Way

Breakfast → Lake BBQ → Fire-Cooked Dinner → Movie Night

Morning starts slow with breakfast at camp. Coffee in hand. Kids already moving.

Then we head to the lake for the heart of the trip. A laid-back lakeside BBQ anchors the day, with inflatables, kayaks, swimming, shoreline lounging, and long stretches of unstructured time. Kids move freely between water and land. Parents post up, chat, float, and forget what time it is.

Back at camp, the evening shifts tone. A fire-cooked dinner comes together slowly—shared family-style, warm, grounding, and satisfying.

As night falls, we gather again for a second movie night. Quieter now. Cozier. The kind where everyone knows where to sit and no one wants it to end too soon.

Day 4

Slow Mornings & Goodbyes

Camp Breakfast → Return to Portland

The final morning is intentionally unhurried. Coffee, breakfast, and easy pack-down with full team support—no rushing, no stress, no “did we forget something?”

We return to Portland together and arrive back at the hotel, where the experience officially concludes. From there, families head to the airport, continue on to their next destination, or stay an extra night if they’ve opted for an even softer landing.

Goodbyes are slow. Kids are tired in the best way. Parents leave grounded, lighter, and already talking about “next time.”

I came in tired and honestly a little nervous—traveling with two kids usually feels like work in a different location. Camp Yoshi completely flipped that. My kids were outside all day, making friends, getting muddy, swimming, and falling asleep before 9pm (a miracle). I didn’t have to plan a single thing. I drank my coffee while it was hot, had real conversations with other parents, and actually rested. We left feeling closer, calmer, and already talking about when we can do this again.

— Elena F.

This trip surprised us in the best way. Everything felt easy without feeling overproduced. The food was great, the setting was beautiful, and our girls were just free—running around, laughing, doing kid stuff. We didn’t have to manage the days or entertain anyone. It felt like a reset for our whole family. We still talk about it.

— Keenon S.

Everything’s Handled

From pre-built camp and premium gear to meals, guides, and daily flow, every logistical detail is covered so parents can actually relax and be present.

Real Time Outside (Done Right)

River days, lake afternoons, free-range play, and campfire nights give kids room to explore and reset—without over-programming or chaos.

Shared Moments That Stick

Chef-prepared meals, outdoor movie nights, epic base camp, world class gear and evenings by the fire create simple rituals that bring everyone back together and linger long after the trip ends.

FAQ

Every great adventure begins with a few questions—that’s part of the journey. If you're curious about what’s ahead or wondering if this experience is right for you, our FAQs have you covered. You’ll find thoughtful answers to help you feel confident, grounded, and excited for what’s to come.
How big is the group?

Twelve. That’s it. Just enough for a mix of personalities, but small enough that by day two, you’ll know who snores and who always asks for seconds.

Can I arrive late or leave early?

We get it — life happens. But because of how remote some of our trips are, arrivals and departures are coordinated pretty tightly. If you need to arrive late or duck out early, let us know before booking so we can figure out if it’s possible.

Will the itinerary change after booking?

Nature’s the creative director. Weather, permits, or partner shifts may tweak the plan. Nothing cancels—it adapts. You’ll still get the magic, just in a different wrapper.

Do I have to participate in all the activities?

Nope. If you want to skip a hike and linger at the hotel with a book and a poolside spritz, go for it. That said, this trip is designed like a story — each chapter builds on the last. Miss one, and you might miss the plot twist.

What kind of support can I expect?

Think of us as your guides, hosts, and low-key hype team. Your local guide plus the Camp Gurus handle the logistics, transport, meals, and all the behind-the-scenes wizardry. We also roll with wilderness first responders, so you can feel safe going deep. Your only job? Show up and live it.

Are allergies and dietary preferences accommodated?

Yes. Food is the heartbeat here. Vegan, gluten-free, pescatarian — we’ll make sure your plate feels thoughtful. Just know this is harvest-to-table, so flexibility helps. If a fisherman pulls in snapper that morning, it’s going on the grill.

Once you make a payment, each camper on your reservation will receive an e-mail asking to complete their Camper Profile where allergies and dietary restrictions can be shared.

What is your policy around alcohol and drug use?

We love a good toast. Alcohol is not included in the trip price, but campers are welcome to purchase their own — and trust, there will be plenty of opportunities to lean into the island’s rum, wine, and cocktails. At certain meals, we’ll include alcohol pairings (think bubbles at sunset or a local rum tasting), but for the most part, it’s BYOB or direct-purchase.

Cannabis? Only where it’s legal and if it fits the vibe. Out on boats, during hikes, or in technical terrain, it’s off-limits. Trust us: kayaking through a glowing bioluminescent bay at night is a natural high all on its own.

What is your policy around firearms?

Nope. Not here. The only thing we’re shooting is photos and maybe an espresso shot before the hike.

What is your cancellation policy?

We design our experiences with care and commit early to the people and places that make them possible—farmers, chefs, guides, drivers, and hosts. Because of this, our cancellation policy is built to balance flexibility for our guests with fairness to our partners.

If you cancel 90 or more days before departure, you may choose either a full refund minus a 5% processing fee, or a Camp Yoshi credit valid for 18 months. Credits are transferable and can be applied to any Camp Yoshi experience.

If you cancel between 60 and 89 days before departure, you will receive a 50% refund and a 50% Camp Yoshi credit, valid for 18 months.

If you cancel between 31 and 59 days before departure, you will receive a Camp Yoshi credit for 75% of your total trip cost, valid for 12 months. At this stage, most logistics are locked, but we want to make it possible to join us again when timing allows.

Cancellations made within 30 days of departure are non-refundable, as lodging, food, staffing, and permits have been finalized. In some cases, credits may be considered if we are able to fill your spot. We encourage guests to reach out early—communication matters.

At any point prior to departure, you may transfer your reservation to another guest at no additional cost, provided they meet the trip requirements. This is often the easiest way to recover your full investment.

If Camp Yoshi needs to cancel a trip for any reason, guests will receive a full refund or a full Camp Yoshi credit, at their choice.

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect your investment against unexpected changes.

How can I contact Camp Yoshi?

Visit our Contact page. We might be outside when you hit send, but we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Who is this trip designed for? (Backpacking Mt. Hood)

This trip is for women who’ve been backpacking-curious but waiting for the right moment, the right people, and the right energy. It’s beginner-friendly without being hand-holdy, designed to make the outdoors feel approachable without dumbing it down. You’ll move through the forest with intention, carry what you need, and realize pretty quickly that it doesn’t have to feel heavy to be real.

The gear is smart, lightweight, and thoughtfully designed—not to impress anyone, but because good design changes the experience. The pace is steady, the teaching shows up naturally, and the group dynamic does what it always does when women learn something new together: confidence builds, conversations open, and things start to click. You’ll leave with practical skills, a stronger sense of capability, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing you can do this—on your own terms.
